The City of Busan has announced that the 2019 Busan International Rock Festival will take place from July 27 to 28 at Samnak Ecological Park in Sasang-gu.
The Busan International Rock Festival was first held in the year 2000, so 2019 will mark its 20th anniversary. The festival is one of the longest running and most dynamic festivals in Korea. The Busan International Rock Festival also actively promotes the development of artists through long established exchange programs with international festivals across Asia. It has been a free event for all, but the festival’s organizing committee has decided to make this year’s event a ticketed event in order to provide a more powerful lineup and an all-round better festival experience.
The first announced lineup of the 2019 Busan International Rock Festival was announced on March 13, 2019. This year’s festival will feature a mix of international and Korean artists. The first 8 acts to be announced feature 4 international acts, including international superstars The Chemical Brothers and Courtney Barnett and 4 Korean acts including Jannabi, ADOY and Pia.
To commemorate hosting the 2019 ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit this November, music bands from ASEAN countries will be invited to perform at the festival as well.
Tickets for the festival are priced at 88,000 Korean Won, which will get you access to both days of the festival. Tickets will be available through official ticketing sites (Melon Ticket, Hana Ticket, Yes24 Ticket and Naver Booking) starting at 2:00 p.m. on May 15th.
The second and third scheduled lineup announcements for this year’s festival will be made at the end of May and the beginning of June respectively.
