“ITU Telecom World 2017” will be held at BEXCO for four days from September 25th (Mon.) to 28th (Thur.). The event is organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), which is the longest standing international agency in the ICT area. The 2004 ITU Telecom Asia and the 2014 Plenipotentiary Conference were held at Bexco, Busan.
A total of 193 member countries and private members representing the industry/research and academics will participate in this year’s ITU Telecom World. The event is the world’s largest exhibition and international forum and is organized by the ITU to support governments and corporations including SMEs. This year, the event is held with the theme “smart digital transformation, global opportunity.”
The event largely consists of the exhibition and forum. As a global ICT fair, the exhibition will be a venue for cutting-edge information exchange and education. Domestic and overseas corporations and startups that are leading the ecosystem of the world’s ICT industry can introduce a variety of digital solutions to multinational corporations, countries and investors. The exhibition will consist of Country Hall, Corporation Hall, Theme Hall, SMEs Hall as well as business consultation meetings and a networking space.
With its focus on digital transformation and new and impactful opportunities, the forum will include various outlets for discussion such as a roundtable by top-level CEOs and ministers, an open dialogue among governments and SME CEOs, and a panel discussion. Visitors can listen to experts’ opinions about major issues concerning the ICT ecosystem. The forum will provide a venue for discussing the future of related technologies.
In addition, there will be other events concurrently held with '2017 ITU Telecom World', such as K-ICT Week in Busan, the ITU Youth Forum, the IDB Korea/Central America Ministerial Meeting on Information, Communication and Broadcasting, and the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity Conference. Busan will be the host of the ICT festival in September.
