2024 Special Exhibition of Busan Musem - Generous Collectors: The Joy of Sharing the Pleasure of Collecting The Busan Museum is continuously working towards growing the interest and knowledge about Korea’s outstanding cultural heritage. As part of these efforts, the museum is holding the first special exhibition of 2024: “Generous Collectors: The Joy of Sharing the Pleasure of Collecting”. This exhibition highlights the collecting activities and social contributions of generations of Korea's leading entrepreneurs. The museum has brought together antique works of art which those collectors had carefully gathered throughout their lifetime, and exhibits them in one place. More than 60 objects from diverse fields of art are represented: Pottery ranging from celadon, buncheong ware to white porcelain, various painting categories such as genre painting, figure painting and narrative painting, as well as writings of calligraphers. The selection of objects also features state-designated cultural heritage, including several Treasures and National Treasures. Above all, these objects were the most cherished and favorite pieces of the collectors. The objects on display in this exhibition are the essence of Korea’s traditional culture, embodying the beauty and originality of Korean art. We hope that this is an opportunity for you to find comfort and peace of mind in enjoying the finest artworks curated by the greatest Korean collectors of our time.
